I'll Take A Do-Over Please!

One of the things that I have had to accept is this: there are no do-overs. No matter how many times I may have wished for it, I can’t take back anything that I’ve done. I have some really peachy memories that I could dwell on for hours. Even if you've never been addicted to something, we all have those moments. You know... that awkward interaction where you should have said X, Y & Z, or that mean girl moment when you simply lost it on that undeserving someone, or that time you took one too many shots and made complete fool of yourself? Those memories your mind wanders to when you're about to go to sleep at night, the ones that make you wince and take a journey down guilt-trip lane. Yep. That's the one! I get it!! It doesn’t matter how trivial someone else may think it is, it’s real, and it hurts.

So, here is my advice: Pause, and take a deep breath. Now, close your eyes and allow yourself to relive it. Meditate on it and experience it one more time. Accept that it happened, and understand and accept that you cannot change it. Now… Let. It. Go.

Easier said than done, right? I get it! It’s SO easy to focus on the negatives, and it is HARD to let them go.

LISTEN UP, the you reading this message right now is no longer a part of your past. You can be whoever you want to be in this moment and from hereon out. You ARE NOT defined by your past. You are defined by your current self, your present actions, your now. Only you have the the power to define you, and it's time to take control.

So, what if I am not who I desire to be? CHANGE IT. I am who I am today because of choices that I have made and actions I have taken to get here...

I have chosen to not live in the shadow of my past. I have chosen to move forward. I have chosen be a completely different person than that broken girl in my memories. I have chosen who I am and how I will live. I have chosen to live for my purpose. I have chosen to serve others so that they can find and fulfill theirs. And because of these choices, I have changed my current self, and I have changed my future. Why? Because I have the power to do so, and I refuse to look back in 5, 10, 20 years and think anything other than “what an amazing life I've lived".

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.
-Mark Twain

Just like me, YOU have the power to change YOUR present & future self. No excuses. You are the creator of your problems, your lack of time, your attitude, etc. And you have the power to turn every one of those negatives into a positive. I don't know about you, but I don't want to lie in bed dwelling on a negative past. I want to lie in bed reminiscing on an abundant life lived to the fullest. So, who do you want to be? In 5 years, what do you want your life to look like? What small changes can you make that will help you achieve your desired self? And lastly, how can I help you get there?
