What is Somatic Breathwork?

This is a question I get asked A LOT. This is the easiest way to put it...

Somatic breathwork is a practice that involves conscious breathing to access deeper states of consciousness and facilitate physical, emotional, and spiritual healing. It's based on the idea that breathing is not just a physical function, but also a powerful tool for accessing our inner wisdom and transforming our lives.

During a somatic breathwork session, a person is guided to breathe deeply and rhythmically, using various techniques to help them release tension and access deeper levels of awareness. This can lead to a range of benefits, including:

  1. Stress reduction: By breathing deeply and consciously, somatic breathwork can help calm the nervous system and reduce feelings of anxiety and stress.

  2. Increased energy and vitality: Deep breathing can help increase oxygen flow to the body, leading to greater energy and vitality.

  3. Improved emotional well-being: Somatic breathwork can help release trapped emotions and trauma, leading to a greater sense of emotional well-being and resilience.

  4. Greater self-awareness: By accessing deeper states of consciousness, somatic breathwork can help increase self-awareness and facilitate personal growth and transformation.

  5. Enhanced spiritual connection: Somatic breathwork can help connect us to our spiritual selves and deepen our sense of connection to the world around us.

When we allow our bodies to become clear of the things that we are suppressing, our minds and spirits also become clear, and we open ourselves up to living in alignment with our best selves.
